First Aid
Company Profile

Bob Maitland is the founder of Immediate Response Training Services. Bob is 52 years old and has been training for some 27 years. He started his career in 1976 when he joined the Royal Navy where he trained as a fire-fighter and also became an instructor in first aid and fire fighting techniques.

After 12 years in the navy he left to join the Fire Service where he progressed through the ranks to Station Officer level. During that time he became responsible for the brigade’s training in resuscitation and oxygen therapy while at the same time running several fire stations at different times throughout the country.

He also spent a year in Bosnia helping to set up several new fire stations as well as implementing the training of the local firemen in modern firefighting techniques and updated medical procedures as well as advising on the many types of fires and medical incidents that occurred on a day to day basis.

In between these duties he worked in conjunction with Salisbury District Hospital helping to provide courses in resuscitation to medical staff and outside agencies and at the same time achieving further qualifications in the field of resuscitation.

Bob is qualified in many areas of health and safety including Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Trauma Care, First Aid and Defibrillation and takes every opportunity to maintain and improve his skills and knowledge in order to be able to provide the highest standards when providing training courses.

Bob formed Immediate Response Training Services in 2002 with the idea that training should be presented in a relaxed and informal way, and that the people who present such training should be able to give professional guidance in line with regulations, but also be able to talk from experience and not just regurgitate from textbooks.
