Automated Defibrillation Course

Automated defibrillators are becoming more common in the workplace and public areas, as well as being carried by the emergency services. Learning to use the defibrillator is surprisingly easy as long as the delegate is proficient in Basic Life Support Skills and has the confidence, knowledge and ability to act in a safe manner.

This ½ day course is designed to give personnel who have access to a defibrillator, the knowledge, skills and confidence to enable them to use the equipment safely using the latest European Resuscitation Council guidelines.

The course content includes the following subjects:
  • What is an AED and how does it work?
  • Chain of survival
  • Casualty assessment
  • Recovery position
  • Anatomy of the heart
  • CPR protocols
  • AED use and safety protocols
The course is made up of both theory and practical sessions, including the actual use of a defibrillator and associated equipment. On completion of the course, if the required standards are met, delegates are awarded a certificate that is valid for six months, which is in line with current UK Resuscitation guidelines.

Automated External Defibrillators (AED), are very safe and effective when used properly. Therefore, it is important to follow the operating instructions that come from the manufacturer of defibrillator.
